Wholesale Financial Markets Digital Strategy

Digitalisation will enable the UK to improve the efficiency of its wholesale markets. It also presents opportunities to fundamentally reimagine and transform the way they operate.  

The UK will grasp the opportunities presented by digitalisation to make its wholesale markets better, both by removing outdated processes and by taking decisive action to realise the potential benefits of new technologies like distributed ledger technology.   

This paper outlines the broad steps that need to be taken to achieve this and sets out how the government, regulators and industry will collaborate. This includes appointing a Digital Markets Champion to lead, join up and coordinate the private sector’s work on this.
