The government's approach to establishing the Border Security Command and strengthening UK border security.

The statement sets out the government’s approach to:

  • establishing the Border Security Command
  • strengthening UK border security

The Border Security Command (BSC) was established on 5 July 2024 and is led by Martin Hewitt CBE QPM.

The BSC will:

  • lead and drive forward the required step change in the UK’s approach to border security
  • provide a clear and long-term vision for border security
  • provide leadership to all parts of the system that maintain the integrity of the UK border and immigration systems
