The government believes that the need for additional capacity in the south-east of England is best met by a new north-west runway at Heathrow Airport.

The planning policy framework which the applicant for a north-west runway at Heathrow Airport would have to comply with in order to get development consent is set out in the draft Airports National Policy Statement.
