The Cumbria Flood Action Plan sets out what the Environment Agency and partners – the Cumbrian Floods Partnership – are doing to make communities safer for winter 2016 to 2017. We are examining all the river systems in Cumbria to make sure that the money we spend on the environment, farming, and water supply contributes to flood protection.

The plan includes:

  • the summary document, giving an overview of what we’ve done since December 2015, our plans to prepare for flooding in the future, and an overview of the ‘catchment approach’ to flood risk management
  • the action plan, including a full list of the actions we have identified so far to manage flood risk and make Cumbria more resilient
  • the community action tables, setting out the actions identified for particular towns and villages
  • an interactive version of the action plan

The action plan is a living document. The Environment Agency wants to continue working with local partners and communities to develop it further. You can view the interactive version of the Cumbria Flood Action Plan in Google maps.
