We want to know what you think about our proposals to change water legislation to include the Isles of Scilly. We also want to learn how you think these changes will affect you.

Many of the existing environmental water protections laws in England do not apply to the Isles of Scilly. This includes provisions in the Water Industry Act 1991, the Water Resources Act 1991 and the Environment Act 1995.

Making changes to the legislation will put in place the correct procedures and tests to make sure the drinking water is healthy. It will also make sure that the island’s sewerage system is dealing with the sewerage in the most environmentally-friendly way possible. We want to achieve these changes while minimizing the effect to both the Council and the local residents.
