Night-time noise abatement objectives for the designated airports
This consultation seeks views and evidence on what a night-time noise abatement objective should be for the noise designated airports (Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted) from October 2025.
The Secretary of State is required to define a night-time noise abatement objective for noise designated airports (Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted) where a noise problem has been identified.
For the purpose of the next night flight regime, due to commence in October 2025, this consultation seeks views and evidence on what the night-time noise abatement objective should be.
Once a night-time noise abatement objective for the designated airports has been decided upon, we will then be able to identify the most cost-effective measures for achieving the desired outcomes and present them in a main consultation on the next night flight regime. This consultation is expected to launch in late 2023.
