Interministerial Group for Safety, Security and Migration Communiqué: 11 July 2023

The second Home Office Interministerial Group (IMG) for Safety, Security and Migration met via videoconference on 11 July 2023.

The meeting was chaired by the Home Secretary, Rt Hon Suella Braverman KC MP, and attended by Minister for Social Justice and Chief Whip, Jane Hutt CBE MS (Welsh Government) and Minister for Social Justice, Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Scottish Government).

In the absence of ministers in the Northern Ireland Executive, senior officials from the Northern Ireland Civil Service attended the meeting in an observational capacity.

For the second IMG, ministers engaged in dialogue across the 3 core themes of the group; safety, security and migration, in which they agreed the importance of closer relations and effective cooperation.
