The FCDO evaluation strategy sets the ambition for evaluation for the 4 years from 2026 to 2030. Its main goal is to make high-quality, timely evaluation a foundation for strategic choices across all areas of the FCDO’s work. This involves supporting more of the organisation – whether development, diplomacy or security – to use evaluation evidence to strengthen delivery

Evaluation tells us what works, how and why, to maximise the value of taxpayers’ money and better deliver on our commitments to the UK and its partners. Evaluation identifies good practice, improves our performance and helps us to use resources on activities that have the most impact.

The strategy complements the FCDO evaluation policy, which ensures a common understanding of core evaluation principles and standards.
