The government passed regulations in 2016 about the activities of collective management organisations and ‘independent management entities’ (PDF, 181 KB). These bodies licence businesses and other organisations to use copyright works. They offer these licences on behalf of large groups of creators and rights holders.
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is responsible for monitoring compliance with the regulations. This review talks about the IPO’s activities in this area from April 2024 to March 2025.
