The Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) published its Progress in improving the natural environment in England 2023 to 2024 in January 2025 under section 28 of the Environment Act 2021.

The Environment Act requires the government to respond to each OEP progress report. This response sets out how we are addressing the OEP’s recommendations on improving progress towards environmental targets and the goals in the Environmental Improvement Plan.
