This policy outlines Immigration Enforcement’s strategic, operational, and legal framework for the ethical use of live facial recognition technology.
The Home Office is developing a new legal framework and code of practice for law enforcement use of biometric technologies, including facial recognition and similar identification systems. The consultation addresses equalities impacts, discrimination concerns, and options for regulating police and enforcement agency use of biometrics, with a draft code of practice for employers on right-to-work checks also under development.
