Charter for Budget Responsibility

The Charter for Budget Responsibility establishes fiscal rules and accountability mechanisms that govern UK government spending and borrowing decisions. Led by HM Treasury, it sets out the framework for medium-term fiscal policy and is currently active, with recent work on reforming the spending control framework and introducing new fiscal rules through the Budget Responsibility Bill.
