Environmental Land Management Schemes (ELMS) are a suite of agri-environment programmes led by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to incentivise farmers to adopt sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. The schemes include the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) and are actively being rolled out, with ongoing policy development around funding mechanisms, common land eligibility, and alignment with climate and soil health objectives.
