The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and Low Pay Commission set and review the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates, with recent focus on impacts for young people and regional variations (particularly Wales). Multiple bills and draft regulations (2026) are progressing, alongside consultation on gig economy and self-employment coverage. This remains an active area of employment and wage policy.
