NDA Response to Public Accounts Committee Recommendations, October 2021
This paper is being submitted by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in response to its Recommendations
The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is developing multi-year business plans (2025–2029) to manage the decommissioning and clean-up of UK nuclear sites, particularly Sellafield, which faces significant funding constraints and complex decisions about returning the site to greenfield condition. The NDA, working with Sellafield Ltd, Nuclear Waste Services, and Nuclear Restoration Services, must balance hazard removal, liability reduction, and space constraints within a fixed funding envelope set by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Current status involves draft business plan consultation and parliamentary scrutiny of related nuclear submarine recycling and fuel cycle non-proliferation bills.
