Net Zero Strategy

The UK Government is implementing its statutory Net Zero by 2050 commitment through the Seventh Carbon Budget and associated delivery plans, led by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero with HM Treasury and the Prime Minister's Office. Current challenges include delivering emissions reductions in sectors reliant on technologies not yet available at scale, ensuring policy alignment across transport, buildings and infrastructure, and building public confidence through transparent engagement and credible delivery mechanisms rather than ministerial statements alone.
