Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs is amending the Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Regulation to address PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), which are highly persistent, bioaccumulative chemicals with potential long-term environmental and human health impacts. The department is conducting consultations on regulatory amendments and risk assessments for substances proposed as POPs, with changes expected in 2026.
