7. Data - unlocking the power of data in the UK economy and improving public confidence in its use

Smart Data Policy establishes frameworks for making energy, financial services, and public data more accessible and usable across the UK economy. Led jointly by BEIS, DCMS, DESNZ, and DSIT, the policy includes development of an energy smart data scheme and responds to public consultation on data governance. The initiative aims to balance innovation and data utility with public trust and regulatory safeguards.

During March-April 2021, Deltapoll conducted polling on behalf of the CDEI to gauge public attitudes towards Smart Data schemes. The insights are informing its work with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
