UK Emissions Trading Scheme

The UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS) is a carbon pricing mechanism that caps and trades greenhouse gas emissions across covered sectors, replacing the EU ETS post-Brexit. Led by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero with the Environment Agency, it is currently active and undergoing refinements including treatment of sustainable aviation fuel and alignment with major project carbon abatement costs.
