Victims and Prisoners Bill
The government has introduced the Victims and Prisoners Bill into Parliament.
The Ministry of Justice is leading a comprehensive reform of the victims' justice system through multiple legislative vehicles including the Victims and Courts Act 2026 and the Victims and Prisoners Act 2024. The reform addresses victim support, disclosure of institutional records in abuse cases, domestic abuse tackling, and victim participation in the criminal justice process. This is an active, multi-bill legislative programme to strengthen victim protections and access to justice.

In response to: Victims Funding Strategy
The Victims Funding Strategy will set the vision for how to fund the victim support sector more sustainably and ensure victims and survivors are able to access the support they need.
This bill ensures that the cruelty of killers who refuse to disclose the location of a victim’s remains must be considered by the Parole Board when assessing release.
