Government response
In response to: Implementation of mandatory digital waste tracking
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs and Welsh Government are addressing waste crime and illegal waste dumping through the Waste Tyres Bill and the Waste Crime Action Plan, as current regulation is insufficient to prevent non-compliance and illegal waste sites. The Environment Agency lacks adequate enforcement powers to tackle fly-tipping and illegal waste operations, which cost the English economy over £900 million annually.
