Flood Risk Management Plans

The Environment Agency is implementing flood risk management plans (FRMPs) for 2021-2027, addressing gaps in the planning system's ability to prevent development on flood plains without adequate mitigation. The Agency acts as statutory consultee on planning applications but lacks enforcement powers to prevent flood-risk development. Current plans also emphasise coordination with water industry drainage and sewerage management plans and engagement with local authorities and developers.
